I have had a good habit of skincare since my younger years. Even when I got married and had my first child, I never forgot or missed a night cream. During my twenties, I feel so proud of my flawless skin. But things changed when I turned 25, and I noticed visible lines in the outer corners and between my eyes. I remembered that I was harsh in that area. I wipe hard to remove the makeup, especially in the eyes and eyebrows where I put many products. I had a misconception that if I clean my skin by wiping the makeup thoroughly away, I am taking care of it.
But just recently, when I visited Heather’s clinic in Hampstead, I learned that this habit damaged my skin and contributed to the formation of wrinkles and other skin conditions that I have now.
I choose to ignore the common signs of aging. Since it is a natural part of aging, I thought I could do nothing else to reverse it and never consider any treatment. However, there are visible changes in the skin due to aging that you just can’t ignore. Only then I thought of getting treatment.
Why did you have Dysport?
I always knew fine lines and wrinkles as typical signs of aging. I also knew that the skin would become saggy when it loses its volume. But I never realized how droopy the face would look like till I saw it in the mirror.
I decided to had Dysport treatment because it is a neuromodulator, perfect for what I need. Neuromodulators are types of treatment that relax the muscle in the treated facial area. I needed to get rid of my wrinkles, fine lines and treat the area around my eyes and eyebrow that has become droopy. I also had lines between my eyebrows that make me look problematic or mad even when I am not.
Heather Speert emphasized that we can target glabellar lines ( horizontal lines on the forehead) and frown lines (vertical lines between the eyes). It is one of my primary concerns since my glabellar and frown lines appear without me noticing it.
What is the procedure?
My experience with Dysport is not bad at all compared to my initial thought. The treatment is only minimally invasive, but the idea of a needle injection on my face freaks me out. Good thing that the treatment uses a numbing cream that makes the procedure essentially painless.
I like the way how the procedure started. Heather patiently listen to what are my expected result from the treatment. I also shared with her my reason for not getting cosmetics before. I told her that I do not want to look like a zombie with overstretched skin. But she assured me that inexperienced practitioner performs treatment result like those. I trusted her to do the treatment, knowing that she is a certified aesthetic nurse specialist with years of experience.
After I explained that I want my frown and glabellar lines to disappear, she sanitized the treatment area and applied numbing cream. She made several injections, and after less than half an hour, the treatment is over.
What happened next?
The procedure was administered in her office. She told me to stop any medication that may cause bruising, such as aspirin. I was also restricted from drinking alcohol for the next 48 hours after the treatment.
I went home immediately after the treatment. There was no required downtime after the procedure. It took two days before I see visible results from Dysport that gradually smoothened the lines in my forehead and between the eyebrow. I am expecting to see the full result after my first month since the treatment. According to Heather, the effect of Dysport lasts for four months, but some clients experienced results that lasted six months. Currently, I am seriously taking her advice to keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
Were there side effects?
Based on my experience, Dysport was a convenient and effective treatment, and I did not have any side effects other than a mild headache that just faded on its own. Other than that, common side effects that may experience by another patient are:
- Bruising and pain in the injection sites
- Swelling of eyelid
- Nausea
- Sinus issues
- Sore throat
- Rash and hives in the injection sites
Dysport is a safe and effective treatment that should not be a threat to one’s health. However, Heather warned me that Dysport carries a risk of being transported to the nearby regions of the body that may cause several problems in my vision, breathing, and speaking. But since she had many experienced in cosmetic treatments, she is confident that I will not be having those problems. And I didn’t.
Will you recommend it?
As far as rejuvenating is concerned, I am highly satisfied with the result. However, Dysport is not only for aging people. Since Dysport treats the formation of wrinkles and lines that usually starts at the age of 25, it is also recommended to adults that want to improve their skin.
I did not have a frozen look or a fierce one either because of Dysport. The treatment was effective for me to smile without the deep folds of skin in my forehead and eyebrow. The treatment has improved my face, especially my then droopy eyebrow. The shape of my eyebrow is arched upward. But not in a way that looks like someone is pulling my hair from behind. I got a beautifully lifted eyebrow.
I recommend Dysport to anyone who has the same problems as I had before. Having facial treatments is not only to look beautiful or young, but it will also make you confident again. Dysport can smooth the fine lines, wrinkles, and deep folds painlessly in the skin.
I also recommend looking for a certified RN, CANS, to do the treatment for you. In my case, I found Heather Speert R.N. CANS, Aesthetic and Wellness, and the result could never be better. Because the success of Dysport also lies on your practitioner.
Thanks, Heather!
